Carpets that see sand, salt and wet dogs
Beach traffic grinds grit into carpet fibre where a vacuum cannot reach it. Left alone, it wears the pile out from the inside.
Why coastal carpets wear out early
Sand is not dirt. It is abrasive, it works its way down to the backing, and every step after that grinds it against the fibre. Add salt, damp air and pets coming in off the beach, and a carpet in a rental ages several times faster than the same carpet inland.
Cleaning it is partly about how it looks now and mostly about how long you can go before replacing it.
- High-traffic lanes — entryways, hallways, in front of sofas
- Pet accidents and odour, treated at the source rather than covered
- Spills and staining from guests
- Area rugs as well as fitted carpet
Move-Out Deep Clean
A full property clean at the end of a tenancy, ready for photos and new bookings.
Book it with a deep clean
Carpets are easiest at the start or end of the season when the property is empty and drying time does not collide with a booking. Most owners pair it with their deep clean and get both done in one visit.
Carpet Cleaning questions
How long do carpets take to dry?
Long enough that you should not book a guest into the property the same day. Coastal humidity makes drying slower than it would be inland, which is why we suggest scheduling carpets when the calendar has a gap.
Can you get pet odour out?
Often, yes, if it is treated at the source rather than masked. If it has soaked through to the pad, we will tell you honestly that cleaning the carpet alone will not fix it.
Do you clean area rugs?
Yes, along with fitted carpet. Let us know what you have when you ask for a quote.
